About Me
Sanjana (Sanju) is a fellow Austinite who completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry (ACS) at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. She worked as a research assistant for Professor Sara Massey, investigating the energy transfer dynamics caused by iron stress on the diatom P. tricornutum light-harvesting complexes. Now at the University of Texas at Austin, she’s pursuing her Ph.D. in Chemistry and joined Professor Newberry's lab in 2024 to explore the structures of misfolded proteins in neurodegenerative diseases.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Sanju loves finding the perfect coffee shop ambiance (if she's not in the lab, you can bet she's reading papers at a café), hanging out with friends and family, and enjoying delicious vegetarian food!
